THE BROTHERHOOD

A Novel By Tattletale Publishing

“When the past rides behind you, the road ahead is never clear.”

They left the battlefield with scars they couldn’t see.
They built a brotherhood from the wreckage.
But peace is a lie on these roads.
Every mile carries a memory.
Every turn brings another fight.
And some demons don’t stay buried.

PROLOGUE - FORGED IN WAR.

We were soldiers once. Sent to fight a war that never really ended. Some of us came back in one piece. Most didn’t. But we all came back changed. Out here, on the road, the rules are simpler. No politics. No flags. Just the throttle and the man riding next to you.

They call us outlaws. Misfits. Lost causes. Maybe they’re right. But this brotherhood — it’s the only thing that ever made sense. You bleed for the man beside you, and he bleeds for you. That’s the way it’s always been. That’s the way it’ll always be.

We don’t run from our demons anymore. We ride with them. And if the road demands another fight… then we fight.

The war didn’t end overseas.
It just changed uniforms.

Now it’s fought in the streets they once called home — streets swallowed by gangs with no code and no fear.
A ruthless drug lord pulls the strings, flooding neighborhoods with poison and power.
Corner kids turned soldiers roam the blocks, terrorizing the same mom-and-pop shops these men grew up loving.
Every night, another headline. Another life taken. Another reason to stay inside and lock the doors.

But instead of cracking down on the chaos, the cops turned their sights on them — the Brotherhood.
Building a case to cage the very men who stood between their city and the flames.
Treating warriors like criminals.

So now, they ride again.
Not for glory. Not for revenge.
But to protect the only thing that still matters…
home.

THEMES

⚖️ Justice vs. Vengeance – In a city overrun by corruption, the line between right and wrong blurs fast. The Brotherhood must decide if they’re fighting for justice… or just fighting back.

🏍️ Loyalty and Brotherhood – Bound by blood, battle, and shared scars, these men are more than a club — they’re family. And in a world built on betrayal, family is the only thing that can’t be bought.

💀 Power and Corruption – From the drug lord pulling strings in the shadows to the cops bending laws to suit their own goals, power twists everything it touches — and no one walks away clean.

🔥 War at Home – The battlefield changed, but the fight never ended. Now the enemy isn’t overseas — it’s on their streets, in their neighborhoods, and sometimes wearing a badge.

🏚️ The Cost of Peace – Protecting what’s left of their home means risking everything — freedom, family, and their very souls. Because in a war without heroes, peace demands a heavy price.

  • Chapter One – The Block

    🎵 It’s all the same… only the names will change… 🎵

The opening chords of Bon Jovi’s Wanted Dead or Alive ripped from hidden speakers strapped to a few bikes, the sound almost drowned by the roar of engines. Together it made a wall of sound — thunder and anthem in one, rolling down the highway like a declaration.

The Brotherhood MC cut through the Carolina pines in formation, patched leather catching the burn of the late sun, chrome flashing like lightning. Saint rode up front, steady and unshakable. Ghost — a shadow two bikes back, watchful even behind mirrored shades. Rebel drifted side to side, smoke dangling from his lip like he was daring the world to blink first.

They weren’t saints. They weren’t even close.
    But they were free.

And out here, flying down the asphalt with that song blasting like it was written for them, freedom wasn’t just a word — it was alive.

By the time the bikes peeled off toward the clubhouse, the sun was sliding low, bleeding orange across the sky. The place was an old brick garage, patched and fortified over the years, the kind of joint where outsiders knew not to linger. Out front, rows of bikes gleamed like trophies.

Inside was chaos — the kind that smelled like home. Pool balls cracked against green felt, music thundered from dusty speakers, laughter cut through the smoke of cheap cigars. Whiskey bottles clinked, cards slapped onto wooden tables, the air thick with the rowdy energy of men who’d lived too much life to apologize for any of it.

Layla darted through it all, weaving between the roughnecks like she’d been raised in chrome and smoke. Seventeen, whip-smart, quick smile that softened the whole room when she flashed it. Saint’s daughter — but protected by every man in the MC like blood. Rebel teased her mercilessly, Ghost kept a quiet eye, and Saint himself glowered anytime a prospect lingered too long near her.

    Family. Messy, loud, but unbreakable.

    Then reality bled in.

The TV bolted to the wall cut through the music with a special report: shaky cellphone footage of boys no older than Layla, waving pistols, screaming into cameras, bragging about bodies.

“Authorities say violence in the city continues to climb…”

A few brothers booed the news and went back to their whiskey, shrugging it off as just another headline.
But Saint didn’t. His eyes stayed locked on the screen, jaw tightening with every word.

    Rebel spat in a cup.
“Whole damn city’s lost its mind.”

Someone yelled for another round. The music surged again. The party swallowed the moment.

But Saint kept watching long after everyone else turned away.
